Evening!

Raises his cup of tea

Proverbs 16: 3

“Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.”

How do we commit our works to The LORD?

What are our works?

What did we do today and did we do it with The LORD and in prayer?

Every day is a building block.

Job 1: 1-5

“There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.  And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.  Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.  And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.  So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all.  For Job said, ‘It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.’  Thus Job did regularly.”

We are taught to pray without cease.  We are told to make intercessions on behalf of others.  We have been chosen a peculiar people to give spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God.  We are to abide in His Word.

Leadership is about building.

Leadership is about having a vision.

Leadership is about inspiration.

Leadership is about transformation.

Leadership is about doing the work.

James 4: 2-10

“You lust and do not have.  You murder and covet and cannot obtain.  You fight and war.  Yet you do not have because you do not ask.  You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.  Adulterers and adulteresses!  Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?  Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.  Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, ‘The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously’?  But He gives more grace.  Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.’  Therefore submit to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.  Lament and mourn and weep!  Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

This passage reminds us that our prayers that didn’t seem to be answered today might have been prayers prayed in the wrong way.  It is also a reminder to give thanks for the gifts we are given by God that we weren’t expecting.

How much of our prayer today was based in selfish pleasures and how much of our prayer was done with pure hearts?

Psalm 95: 1-11

“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD!  Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.  Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.  For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods.  In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also.  The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land.  Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.  For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand.  Today, if you will hear His voice: Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness, When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work.  For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’  So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.”

I think this is a good place to stop for the night.

Happy waiting!

:)
