Matthew 28: the last 3 verses

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching hem to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’  Amen.”

Now.  Our goal here at the Sunrise Forest Show is simple.  Everyday evangelism.  And we mean that literally.  Every day, evangelism.  It doesn’t have to be big.  It doesn’t have to be earth shattering, but every day is a building block for our personal ministries.  What is your personal ministry?

Philippians 2: 12-13

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”

Paul teaches us that we are to work out our own salvations.  He says we are to do that in fear and trembling.  In other words, in the fear of the Lord.  We are not responsible for our own salvation.  That is Jesus’ Work.  But what that salvation looks like?  It seems to me that Paul is teaching here that is between us and Jesus.  For some it may be getting married and being a God fearing husband.  For some it might be being an executive.  For some it might be being a plumber.  It doesn’t really matter what you do as long as you are doing it with Jesus.

Proverbs 2: 1-9

“My son, if you receive my Words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.  For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of Justice, and preserves the way of His saints.  Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.”

If you are having trouble with understanding what your personal ministry is, I suggest turning to Romans 12.  Then add to that John 15 in our study.  It seems Philippians is a big focus for us today.  Remember what Paul said.

Philippians 4: 13

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

If you don’t have that kind of faith yet, don’t worry.  Jesus will teach you if you ask, but, just remember what Paul had to go through for that wisdom.  I might also mention that if you’re having trouble with your personal ministry think and pray on your prayercraft.  If you aren’t praying without cease yet, it’s something to work on.  Paul teaches us that we are to preach the Word, to be ready in and out of season, and it is always important to note that even Paul, with all his knowledge of Scripture, took many years to get ready for the bulk of his ministry we know about.  We, of course, don’t know it all, just as we don’t know all of Jesus’ ministry, but enough to know he stayed a tent maker.  Meaning Paul.

James 1: 2-8

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.  But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and if will be given to him.  But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.  For let not that man supposed that he will receive anything for the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
