Moose flips on the coms.  A quiet chime alerts the crew throughout the ship.

“Morning.  Ok.  So.  Crew.  We are starting a new study today in Scripture.  That new study is going to be on The Holy Spirit.  Now.  This means that our prayers to increase our faith are most likely going to be answered.  Make sure we’re reading through James 1 as a background.  Then turn with me to Ecclesiastes 5.

Ecclesiastes 5: 1-7

“Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil.  Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter anything hastily before God.  For God is in heaven, and you on earth; therefore let your words be few.  For a dream comes through much activity, and a fool’s voice is known by his many words.  When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools.  Pay what you have vowed- better not to vow than to vow and don’t pay.  Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin, nor say before the messenger of God that it was an error.  Why should God be angry at your excuse and destroy the work of your hands?  For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity.  But fear God.”

We start our study in the fear of the LORD.  Let’s be careful and precise about the wisdom we seek this week and remember to be hearers of the Word and doers of the Work.  We always need to do our part.  We will be seeking wisdom and Truth from the Scriptures and then we will be assimilating it into our souls, by simply believing it’s true.  Remember Hebrews teaches us that we are to be careful we do not have a wicked heart of unbelief.  It is through unbelief that we don’t enter into His rest.  It was through unbelief that the Israelites fell in the wilderness as well.

I want to touch on one last thing as we get started this week.

Exodus 20: 1-3

“And God spoke all these Words, saying: ‘I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.  You shall have no other gods before Me.”

Hear, crew, and remember.  Our God is Sovereign, our God is One.  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Trinity in One.  We begin our study during recon this week with the Truth that the Holy Spirit exists.  He is Alive and He has been promised to those who believe.  For starters let’s turn to Acts 2.

Acts 2: 29-39

“Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.  Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.  This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.  Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.  For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: ‘The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at My right Hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.’  Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.’  Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Men and brethren, what shall we do?’  Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

We are taught here in Acts by Peter that we are to repent, that we are to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ and then we receive the Holy Spirit.  So.  How are we doing on that?  Have we gotten baptized yet?  Have we honestly and in faith repented in our hearts?  It is the heart’s repentance that needs to come first.  Let’s keep our minds focused on Scripture and begin reading through John 14, 15, 16, and 17 if we have not done so already.  Continue with recon.  Moose out.”

Moose shuts the coms off with a flick of a switch and nods, pulls his hat brim low and opens his Bible.
