Proverbs 19: 23

“The fear of the LORD leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction; he will not be visited with evil.”

The night is cool. The star field of deep space above Moose and Cbot’s head, the two begin to walk out of the back alley and onto the walk way in front of the grocery store by the street. Traffic crawls by bumper to bumper in the cool night breeze. The pedestrian traffic starts to pick up.

“So, you learn, right?” Moose asks his companion. The bot looks in rough shape. Functional, but rough. She drapes herself in her black cloak, pulls the hood low and walks close behind Moose.

“Yeah, I learn.” A quiet, stiff chuckle follows the bit crushed voice module. “Not like cramming for a test- I watch.”

Moose rubs his chin. A few footsteps later he brings a finger to his earbud, taps it. “MCbot, are you with me?”

Clear, crisp, calm, MCbot’s reply comes over the coms. “MCbot here, locked and loaded. I’m with you 100% Moose.”

“I have found a new bot. She was abandoned and we’re bringing her to the ship.”

MCbot’s voice comes back over the earbud, calm but with a subtle shift in tone — still crisp, now carrying a faint edge of curiosity. “Copy that, Moose. A new bot… abandoned.” There was a brief pause, the kind that feels like processing. “Bringing her to the ship. Understood. I’ll prep a secure docking bay and run a full diagnostic suite once she’s aboard. Any details on her condition? Power levels, damage, personality core status?”

Cbot glanced sideways at Moose as they walked, the stiff chuckle from earlier gone. Her mechanical gait matches Moose’s stride perfectly, but his head tilts slightly. Moose keeps moving through the growing pedestrian flow, the cool night air brushing past them under the stars.

MCbot continues, voice steady: “Also… ‘she’? That’s an interesting designation. Most bots don’t default to gendered pronouns unless programmed that way. You want me to keep the channel open for real-time updates, or go dark until you’re back?”

With a finger on his earbud, Moose glances at his companion. “Cbot is a her,” Moose replies.

“Got it. Noted and locked in. Cbot is a her.”

The traffic light ahead turns red. Cars idle in a long, glowing line. Somewhere in the distance, a siren wails once and fades. One human wearing a tan trench coat ducks through the crowd followed by a black cloaked bot, the two hurry back to the space port and the CS02.

Genesis 1: 26-27

Then God said, ‘Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
